Grocery Bag Kites

Today Mad wanted to go outside and play. It was slightly windy and I had been wanting to fly kites for awhile but I had no desire to pull out her never been used kite.... so I opted for a cheap version of kite flying.... a grocery bag. All you need is.... 

Yarn 

a plastic bag

And voila.... you have a kite! Now, of course as soon as we went outside the wind died down and Madison wasn't in the mood to participate. So the bag sat on the ground. BUT it does work! The wind picked up for a quick minute and I flew it. But it's very hard to fly a kite AND take a picture. I'm not that coordinated. But give it a try! Hopefully your kids will be more willing to play!

Coffee Filter Butterflies

Last night Mad and I got a little crafty. We decided to make some butterflies out of coffee filters. They are so easy and fun. Mad loves anything with paint so this was right up her ally. All you need is paint, a brush, coffee filters, pipe cleaners and a cute kid to do all the work! The coffee filters and pipe cleaners are from the dollar store. If you don't have paint you can color them with markers and spray them with a spray bottle so the ink runs. I'm pretty sure Mad colored her skin more than the filters but that's ok. She was happy! All you do is paint the filters, let them dry and then twist the pipe cleaners around it to look like wings. Easy!

We're back...

Long time no blog!... Things are going good for us. Nothing too new or exciting. D is growing up so fast! He's 6 months now. HOLY CRAP! How did this happen? He is the most chill baby ever. He is always smiling. The happier he is the more far out he sticks his tongue out. He is rolling over and close to sitting up on his own. Mad is as smart as ever. She is talking a ton and knows her ABC's and can count to 10. She knows all her colors. Life is good!

Mad only looked at the camera because I threatened to take away her yarn. Is that mean of me?

First hair cut....

Here is Mad's first hair cut. She was so good during it until the blow dryer came out and then she lost it. But she looks adorable.

More Christmas stuff....

Mad with her Papa. She was so cute. She'd lay her head on him while they did letters on the etch-a- sketch (is that what it's called?). Mad loved her Papa. My parents got a play kitchen for their house and the whole time we were there, Mad just wanted to play with Papa. She'd say, "Papa, cookin! Papa, Cook!" It was very cute. Me and the kids spent a few days with my parents and we had lots of fun. Mad cooked and bugged the dogs. Good times!

Our gift from my parents. LOVE. Been waiting a long time for this shelf! Scott was so excited he had to do a lot of organizing to fit the two huge boxes it came in. Then he put it together right when we got home from my parents house.
My parents got Mad this kitchen for Christmas. So stinkin cute. She cooks everyday. When she wants you to cook with her she'll yell, "MOmmy! Cookin! Cook!"
Christmas Eve and morning, we were in Brigham with Scott's family. There was a lot of eating, screaming kids, and fun.

Mad woke up to find this castle tent from Santa. She loves it.
Opening gifts was not her favorite thing to do. She got so many gifts and didn't understand why she'd open a toy only to have us take it away and have her open something else. After about 5 presents she was done. We had to force her to open presents.


Mad got lots of fun things this year. The kitchen from my parents, lots of clothes, kitchen accessories, her tent, coloring pencils and books, a dancing elmo... it was a good year!

Christmas!

Well, Christmas has come and gone, it's sad the holidays are over but we had a really good time. Me and the kids got together with Scott's oldest sister Mindy and her kids and took some pictures of the kids for a Christmas gift for Grandma. The pictures are so cute but Mad was very naughty this day. She would not cooperate with taking pictures. Mindy and her family recently moved to Texas so seeing them was extra special and super fun for Mad- she loves her cousins so much. Let me introduce Braxton, Bailey, and Katelyn. These kids are crazy and awesome.

Family Pictures

A few weeks ago we got some family pictures taken. They turned out so cute! Here is a little sneak peak....

Aren't they so cute? Things are going good in the Nelson home. We just had our first Thanksgiving with Deacon... but did I take any pictures? No. It was a good Thanksgiving. My Mom came down for a couple of days and made dinner here. She brought all the good stuff. I did, however, help with stirring the mashed potatoes and I made a pumpkin roll :0) Madison really loved having "Mongan" (which is what she says for Grandma... I have no idea where she got that from), come and stay. Mom slept on a blow up mattress in Mad's room and she woke up in the middle of the night with Mad peaking at her through the bars of her crib... kind of creepy. My Dad drove up Thanksgiving day and then had to head back home that night. It was a good time. Probably the funniest moment of the day was when we were sitting at the table eating dinner, Mad grabbed my boob and said, "Mommy, pump." Everyone was quiet and then we all laughed.
